Brief History: In 1908Theodore Roosevelt signed a legislation establishing Muir Woods National Monument   to save the Redwoood  trees from destruction and economic interests. President Teddy Roosevelt named the park after John Muir who was a Scottish-born American (1838 – 1914) naturalist, author, a pioneer a and an early advocate of the preservation of wilderness of the USA . He fought for the protection of the giant Sequoias and Redwood trees.

Telegraph Hill offers majestic views over San Francisco Bay Area and Alcatraz Island. Telegraph Hill has been used in the past as a light house to guide all ships entering San Francisco  bay from the Pacific Ocean. The strange architecture of Coit Tower stands out in the middle of the city. This tower has been built back in 1933 and sponsored by Lillie Hitchcock Coit to honor San Francisco firemen. The tower's design is a reminiscent of a fire hose nozzle and offers great mural paintings inside this monument.
As for North Beach, it’s  is a dynamic and eclectic neighborhood known also as "Little Italy " thanks to the large Italian community who settled in north beach after the Golden Rush. North Beach is also a popular destination thanks to its nightlife,jazz clubs, coffee shops and much more! North Beach is also famous for its churches like St. Paul and St. Peter on Washington Square where Joe Di Maggio and Marilyn Monroe got married after passing by San Francisco city hall.

The Sea Cliff  and the Legion of Honor

The California Palace of the Legion of Honor is one of San Francisco's fine arts museums, perched atop the cliffs of Lands" End, between the Cliff  House and  Baker Beach. AN optional side trip may also take you to Baker Beach via Sea Cliff. ThePalace of the Legion of Honor is an actual copy of "Palais de la Legion d'Honneur"  in Paris. The Golden Gate Park

John McLaren and William Hall laid out the actual Golden Gate Park plan back in 1870. They were inspired by Central Park in New York. The Golden Gate Park is a very popular destination for everybody where visitors can admire; the Conservatory of Flowers, the old De Young Museum of art, the exotic Japanese Tea Garden, lakes like Stow Lake, Windmills like the Dutch Windmill, the Rose Garden, the California Academy of Sciences, a golf course, polo fields, the Arboretum of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Archery Range , the Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant.

Grace Cathedral in Nob Hill and Lombard Street

Grace Cathedral is located in Nob Hill District .Grace Cathedral is a Neo-Gothic style Cathedral which was rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake. In Nob Hill, you can also picture elegant hotels like the Ritz Carlton where movies like the Game were filmed, the Fairmont Hotel where the Rock was filmed, the Mark Hopkins and the Pacific Private Club. The Ferry Building and Oakland Bay Bridge

The Ferry Building is also a farmer's market and home to famous restaurants. It's located in the heart of the Embarcadero , the port of San Francisco dominated by the bay bridge. Oakland Bay Bridge is a pair of double-decker bridges spanning San Francisco Bay. The east and west spans are both double-decker bridges and are linked by a tunnel located in Yerba Buena Island. The SF Bay Bridge opened for traffic in 1936 before the Golden Gate Bridge.

The City Hall and the "Painted Ladies"

The City Hall of San Francisco is the vibrating heart of the Civic Center district . The Beaux-Arts and classic architectural style is a copy of the Invalids Palace in Paris. The Twin Peaks and Haight Ashbury

The Twin Peaks are two peaks rising above San Francisco offering sweeping views all over San Francisco bay area and the ocean. A photo stop is scheduled here. Don't forget your camera!
