Point Reyes is home to over 1000 species of plants and animals. The Lighthouse Visitor Center: Point Reyes Light Station is an outstanding tourist attractions! Tomales Bay State Park: The Coastal Indians called the Miwok were the first to inhabit the coastal area of sheltered coves, tidal, beaches, marshes, and forest of Bishop pines known today as Tomales Bay State Park, located 38 miles north of San Francisco. In 1579, Sir Francis Drake was the first to reach this area, followed by the Spaniards in 1595. Also, German and Russian scientists explored the Tomales Bay in the early 1800s.
Chimney Rock & and Drakes Beach: The Chimney Rock is a gorgeous viewpoint where visitors can picture an army of Giant Elephant Seals lying on the beach.
Sea Lion Cove: California Sea Lions can be seen at Sea Lion Cove, near the lighthouse.
Double Point and Drakes Estero: Harbor Seal can be seen at sandy beaches in Drake Estero.
