Point Reyes Tourist Attractions: Point Reyes National Seashore is a unique and picturesque Peninsula that lies in the Pacific Ocean, 38 miles northwest of San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. You will travel along the countryside farmlands and open grasslands to Point Reyes historic Lighthouse. You will be amazed by the expansive sand and open beaches, brushy hillsides and lagunas. Point Reyes is home to over 1000 species of plants and animals. The Lighthouse Visitor Center: Point Reyes Light Station is an outstanding tourist attractions! Point Reyes Historic Lighthouse was established back in 1870. This unique lighthouse station is the best and most spectacular viewpoint for whale watching in California. Tomales Bay State Park: The Coastal Indians called the Miwok were the first to inhabit the coastal area of sheltered coves, tidal, beaches, marshes, and forest of Bishop pines known today as Tomales Bay State Park, located 38 miles north of San Francisco. In 1579, Sir Francis Drake was the first to reach this area, followed by the Spaniards in 1595. Also, German and Russian scientists explored the Tomales Bay in the early 1800s.
Chimney Rock & and Drakes Beach: The Chimney Rock is a gorgeous viewpoint where visitors can picture an army of Giant Elephant Seals lying on the beach.
Sea Lion Cove: California Sea Lions can be seen at Sea Lion Cove, near the lighthouse.
Double Point and Drakes Estero: Harbor Seal can be seen at sandy beaches in Drake Estero.
