Coit Tower and North Beach

Please note: Telegraph Hill is restricted to bus/van tours. We highly-recommend the SUV tour!

Telegraph Hill offers majestic views of the San Francisco Bay Area and Alcatraz Island. Once a lighthouse guiding ships entering San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean, the architecture of Coit Tower high atop Telegraph Hill is a San Francisco landmark. Built in 1933, and sponsored by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, in honor of San Francisco firemen, the tower is reminiscent of a fire hose nozzle. Inside are 27 beautiful murals, painted in 1934, depicting the Great Depression, scenes of San Francisco, and other pictures of daily life.

Next, we’ll travel to North Beach, a dynamic and eclectic neighborhood known as "Little Italy," after the large Italian community who settled here after the Golden Rush. North Beach is also a popular destination for nightlife, jazz clubs, restaurants, coffee shops, and much more! It is also home to St. Peter and Paul Church on Washington Square where Joe Di Maggio and Marilyn Monroe married in 1954.

Views of Alcatraz Island and drive through Fisherman's Wharf

Our tour guides are excellent photographers, who will offer many photo stops to see Alcatraz Island, a former federal prison, and San Francisco landmark, from various angles. Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco is the city's most popular tourist destination with quaint shops and restaurants, museums, an aquarium, bay cruise terminals, and nightlife.

Palace of Fine Arts and Pacific Heights

The Palace of Fine Arts is a masterpiece of classic architecture designed by Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, which was featured in many films, including “the Rock." Pacific Heights is a sophisticated and elegant residential area. It's also one of the most expensive real estate neighborhoods in America, located between the Presidio and Van Ness Street overlooking the Palace of Fine Arts and San Francisco Bay. Your tour guide will show you celebrities' homes and movie locations.

The Iconic Golden Gate Bridge

The bridge is an engineering achievement and masterpiece, which was the longest and tallest suspension bridge in history when it was completed back in 1937. Today, the Golden Gate Bridge is a landmark of San Francisco and California.

Sea Cliff and the Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor is a fine art museum perched atop the cliffs of Land’s End, between the Cliff House and Baker Beach. A copy of "Palais de la Legion d'Honneur” in Paris, it was completed in 1924 as a memorial to U.S. soldiers who died in WWI. The museum contains a representative collection of European art where you can also see a bronze cast of Rodin’s “The Thinker.”

Golden Gate Park

John McLaren and William Hall laid out plans for Golden Gate Park in 1870, inspired by Central Park in New York City. Attractions at this popular destination include: The Conservatory of Flowers, De Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake and boathouse, windmills, the Rose Garden, California Academy of Sciences, a golf course, polo fields, Arboretum of San Francisco, Golden Gate Archery Range, and Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant.

In Nob Hill, you can also picture elegant hotels like the Ritz Carlton featured in the film “The Game” the Fairmont Hotel, featured in “The Rock,” the Mark Hopkins and The Pacific Club. Lombard Street, the crookedest and most famous street in America, dates back to the 1920s. The area we will visit is paved with bricks and is prohibited to vans, limousines, and bus tours! Book our 4X4 SUV tour and we will drive you on Lombard Street to admire its sharp turns, beautiful houses, and picturesque flowers.

Union Square and Chinatown

Union Square is the heart of San Francisco and center of world-class shopping. Its 2.6-acre plaza, is bordered by Geary Street to the south, Powell Street to the West, Post Street to the north, and Stockton Street to the East. It is also famous for its hotels, and cable car rides. Next door, is San Francisco's Chinatown, the oldest and largest Chinatown in America.

The Ferry Building and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

The Ferry Building is also a farmer's market and home to famous restaurants. It's located in the heart of the Embarcadero, the port of San Francisco with magnificent views of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

City Hall and the "Painted Ladies"

City Hall of San Francisco is the heart of the Civic Center district. The Beaux-Arts and classic architectural styled building is a copy of the Invalids Palace in Paris. A few miles west, you can visit Alamo Square famous for its row of Victorian houses "The Painted Ladies." These beautiful homes are often shown in panoramic pictures of San Francisco, as well as movies, television shows, and commercials.

Twin Peaks and Haight-Ashbury

Twin Peaks rises above San Francisco, offering sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Ocean. Don't forget your camera for your view of Castro, Mission Dolores, Buena Vista Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and Haight-Ashbury, where your tour guide will drive you next. Haight and Ashbury are streets in this neighborhood considered the epicenter of the hippy movement, summer of love, and its eccentric life style. During that era, the neighborhood's fame reached its peak, as it became a haven for psychedelic rock performers and groups.

Sausalito and Mill Valley

In picturesque Sausalito you can enjoy a charming Mediterranean-style coastal town, filled with history, culture, art, houseboats, and beautiful waterfront shops. You can also enjoy your lunch in Sausalito, ask your guide for recommendations. After lunch, we will head to Muir Woods via Mill Valley, a town once inhabited by Native Americans, and then Spanish explorers before becoming a Mexican territory, like San Francisco and Sausalito. This small, charming community is renowned for its laid-back lifestyle, scenic views, marshlands, and artistic side, with musicians, authors, actors, and poets as residents.

Marvel at the Giant Coastal Redwoods

In 1908, President Theodore Roosevelt signed legislation establishing Muir Woods National Monument, to save redwood trees from destruction and economic interests. President Roosevelt named the park after John Muir, a Scottish-born American (1838–1914) naturalist, author, pioneer, and early advocate of United States wilderness preservation, fighting to protect giant sequoias and redwood trees.

You will enjoy an exciting walking tour in the ancient forest of Muir Woods and then have free time to shop at Muir Woods' gift shop, or for a break in the coffee shop.

Note: If you want to see the tallest redwood trees in California, ask about our two- and three-day tours to Redwood National Park, 270 miles north of San Francisco.
